This NaBlaPoMo thing is exhausting. But I think I'm gonna make it...
Grrrr! That's the noise I made when the girl who was coming to get my free art that I posted on Craigslist didn't show up tonight. If I've found one thing about giving crap away on Craigslist it's that it isn't free... for me, I mean. I invariably end up spending time waiting for flakey people who don't even show up to pick up free crap! From now on I'm thinking of saying it's free to the first person to come and get it and refusing to schedule any actual time to pick things up, but I wonder if that wouldn't introduce too much uncertainty into the mix, so that people wouldn't bother coming to get it because they'd assume that it would already be gone. Grrr! I could just throw this stuff away, I suppose. But this is kinda a nice print in a nice frame. Whatever, people are stupid idiots. I mean, not people reading this, but certain other people.
So the reason I'm giving art away is cuz I'm starting new. Getting rid of most of my old crap, much of which was given to me and I didn't necessarily like that much anyway. Anyway, I've got kind of a style in mind, at least for my frames. I think I'm going to hit Eastern Market and get some local art. I bought a print for my office a couple weeks ago that I really like, but haven't gotten that framed yet either. I'm sure this project will take me about a year. Don't worry though... I did not get rid of my kitchy boy peeing into the lake that's hanging over my toilet. Or my asparagus in the kitchen.
I've been thinking about why these kinds of projects take so long. Not just art, but similar things too... buying clothes (casual clothes anyway... I can buy work clothes in a jiffy), that kind of thing. For a while I just thought that I was picky. I think I may have even had a couple conversations w some of you peeps recently about how I pretty much hate every piece of art I've been shopping for lately. Well, I've decided that isn't actually true. I don't really think I'm picky, in the larger sense. I actually do not at all hate most art I see. I like much of it. What I'm picky about is what I actually put in my house. I think I have to get over that a bit, because what happens is just that I end up with empty walls and such for long periods of time. Fucking hang something up there already!
Tomorrow I vote.

Yeah, this month is going to kill me with the blogging.
OH, and I have a similar problem with art on my walls, only mine tends to be that I love it ALL and want ALL of it to be in my house, which isn't physically or financially possible.
Don't get me wrong, I like the picture but I do think the asparagus looks like fingers - Michelle
Yeah, fingers from a GIANT GREEN MONSTER!
Oh, on the art issue, this may get solved somewhat soon, as I got my little sister some art supplies and she's gonna paint me some stuff...
