Oh, so much has happened since last we spoke. The biggest news right now is that I am the proud owner of a huge area rug formerly owned by Dorothy Hamill. I purchased it today. I really wish I had more pictures of the ordeal of getting this thing home. It was in a warehouse in Baltimore. I had to schlep this thing, which weighs about 200 pounds, back to my house in Silver Spring. First I went to Home Depot and bought two 2x4s and one 2x6. Then I screwed them together to make a beam with lips on the side that the rug could ride in on top of my roof rack. It worked well, but it was still a bitch to get this rug on the roof of my car. We rolled it up and got it up there and strapped it all down. Myles helped w that, but I had to get it off of my car and into my house all by myself. I nearly got a hernia. Anyway, I have some pictures... Check them out.
The rug is intended to go in the place that I move to. I have nowhere to put it currently, except in my hallway. I'll get it cleaned before I move in June.
Aside from that... Oh, Kai turned 30, so I'm not the only old man in DC anymore. I had seven light bulbs burn out within three days of each other. Someone stole my outdoor garbage can... and they took the garbage in it too! I haven't found an apartment yet, although I'm #3 on the waiting list to move into Kai's group of buildings. Other than that I'm having a hard time even finding listings for June yet. Very strange. On the other side of things, I helped write an apartment ad for my dad and step-mother's new apartment in Glenview. I hear they have some calls already. Almost done with class for the semester. Just got a presentation in two weeks, and a paper to turn in the week after that. Then I might see if I can do some kinda independent study for the summer. Or maybe I'll take a real class, I dunno. Actually, maybe I'll just study for the GRE. Might be a better idea.
Today I went through old floppy disks. A million of them. I transferred what was important to my hard drive, and threw the rest away. It was interesting to read all of my old papers and resumes. And maybe a little scary.

I obviously need the rest of the Dorothy Hammel story now.
And you know you want to live near me. It would be so fun!
